These include using foam balls, mixing clear DIY slime with white DIY slime, pearly effects or adding polymer clay cane slices. Of course you CAN substitute borax solution for the contact lens liquid. If you do that, you can skip the baking soda as well. (Baking soda is used to create alkaline pH conditions in the glue. This "activates" the sodium borate inside eye drops or contact lens solution which causes the PVA to clump together, thus creating slime. I've always loved using these masks and few months ago I suddenly noticed that it contains polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). At first I didn't think it would be realistic to use face masks for slime since it's usually fairly expensive and used for skincare. However after making the slime hack video I realised that face mask PVA is highly concentrated so it could actually work for slime if diluted with enough water. And it turns out that making slime with peel-off face masks is surprisingly cheap and effective!! A big advantage is that they're MUCH easier to find than PVA glue, especially in Europe (or the USA since Elmers glue is sold out everywhere now XD). This saves you a lot of trial and error if you're not sure which brands of glue contain PVA. I realised that it must be possible to make slime in the same way, as long as all the ingredients are measured out beforehand. Marking the bottle makes it easy to measure everything at once and saves a ton of time and washing up! Once you know the method, you can easily make this slime anywhere using just a bottle and a few basic ingredients. We did some water slime experiments for our German channel recently to find out which method works best. Then I decided to use the best DIY water slime recipe we came up with to create this giant jiggly toy slime. The main difference between a giant slime and normal slime is that you need far more patience because it takes a long time for ingredients to mix properly. Before getting started, make sure you have enough activator at hand (either powdered borax or baking soda + contact lens solution) because you often end up needing more than you expected. For the second part of this DIY I made a quick polymer clay tutorial for pastel koalas! By creating a silicone mold of your piece you can get pretty creative and use it to create squishy or resin designs as well. These DIY slime ideas were originally supposed to be separate videos but I decided to combine them together. This does mean that my workload has gone up quite a lot so I really appreciate all the support from you guys! Please continue liking, commenting and sharing to help Maqaroon and Cute Life Hacks stay in favour with YouTube's algorithm. The first DIY slime here was a failed attempt at butter slime. I noticed that brand of glue make quite a big difference! The brand I used in the butter slime experiments scene was "grainier" so the final slime had a soft-serve ice cream texture (01:50 in the butter slime video). I used a different glue for the marshmallow slime shown here and it turned out smoother and glossier. So if you make or sell slimes, then definitely try experimenting with various brands and you might come up with cool results! Glow in the dark slime was something I've also wanted to try out for so long and I was so excited at how it turned out!! I never realised that it was so easy to turn your phone into a blacklight and it works perfectly on neon ink. All of the glow in the dark DIYs I saw on Youtube require glow in the dark paint or a real UV blacklight (seriously, who has that home unless you're a hotel inspector or a YouTuber who specifically makes videos about glow in the dark DIYs??) I noticed lots of Steven Universe fans in my comments so Rose Quartz Fishbowl Slime is dedicated to y'all!! It's a nice twist to normal fishbowl slime and the gemstones are really soothing and relaxing to touch. Gemstone chips aren't actually expensive so you can even sell your DIY slimes containing real crystal pieces. I wanted to get some for this video but they're hopelessly sold out, so I decided to go ahead with this slime DIY anyway :). Peel off face masks contain polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) which reacts with borate (inside contact lens liquid) within an alkaline/basic pH environment (created by baking soda) to create slime. Face masks are much thicker than glue so the result is a perfect DIY putty slime! Another advantage of face masks is that they're MUCH easier to find than PVA glue, especially in Europe or in the USA since there are glue shortages now! This saves you a lot of trial and error if you're not sure which brands of glue contain PVA. Normal iceberg slime is made using shaving foam which hardens into a crispy layer. However I wanted to make a clear DIY iceberg slime so I was thinking up all sort of things that stay transparent once crystallised. I decided to try sugar since that's cheap and easy to find. I used concentrate sugar syrup instead of water in a standard clear slime recipe. The result was a crunchy layer but sadly it didn't become as brittle as I had hoped. This was a spontaneous DIY since I really wanted to test out the method from the comment and was happy to see it worked. Making slime depends a lot on the brand of glue or contact lens liquid so if yours doesn't turn out that well then try switching brands. If your DIY slime turns watery or rubbery, then try using slightly less baking soda or contact lens liquid or borax. All of these cause the slime to harden up, and you only want just enough so the slime is no longer sticky but still stretchy.

You can improve your chances of getting picked by suggesting absolutely wild ideas that nobody else has come up with yet ;) Under my DIY Slime Powder videos, many people suggested dissolving PVA into water and using that to make clear slime. Another YouTuber tried it first and it worked but the dissolving process took a long time. After doing some research, it turns out the best way to dissolve PVA is to place it in cold water, and slowly heat it up to near-boiling point whilst stirring all the time. That sounded like a bit too much hassle so I tried just doing it with cold water and it worked. Though you have to mix with your hands since you need to rub any lumps of PVA until they dissolve. And definitely wear gloves because it can take up to 30mins and PVA is quite drying to skin. PLEASE NOTE: The slime looks cloudy in the clips where I'm pulling it out of the box because I spent too long taking thumbnail photos and got a huge bunch of bubbles into the top layer ^_^". It's a lot harder making DIY jumbo slimes in Europe since they simply don't sell large enough containers of glue or baking soda! The largest bottle of white glue I found was 1L (don't get me started on clear glue :P). Borax is much cheaper to use as activator when making big slimes but that's not available here at all. So after a bunch of experimenting, we came up with this giant slime DIY using the contact lens method. Another problem with giant slime tutorials is that there are rarely exact recipes online, since most videos are for entertainment and people simply make their jumbo slimes by eye. The recipe in this video is enough for 2L of slime and a fairly good starting point for large slimes! You can scale the quantities up or make them in different colours like we did. It's also not overly expensive to make, about $30 per slime using the exact ingredients we used. This is a fairly specialist ingredient but used in several industries (paint, soap, flower crafts, medical supplies) so it's not too difficult to find online. Amazon wasn't actually that useful, so it's best to search over Etsy, Ebay, Alibaba or standalone webshops. DIY slime made from powder is really fascinating because it's noticeably drier than glue slime (doesn't have that sloppy texture which tends to stick to your skin). DIY powder slime feels more like a clay or play-doh but stretches incredibly well. Most importantly, it changes almost all the "rules" of making slime such as having to use glue, face masks, shaving foam, lotion, borax, contact lens solution etc. In the follow up video I experimented with many different ingredients and made 10 DIY slimes in a completely dry form. For instance, you can pre-measure out glitter or pigments and add that directly to your slime powder. This saves you quite some time compared to a normal slime making process. I also loved the fact that this slime doesn't turn your bowl or spoon sticky. The standard method involves mixing normal slime with air-dry clay (Daiso or Model Magic). I think this is the only DIY butter slime recipe that doesn't require any clay at all. This method is quite a bit cheaper, which is useful if you're making butter slime to sell. If you don't want to use pudding mix then you can also use cornstarch and food colouring, which brings your costs down further. This gel which turns ANY manicure into peel off polish!! No base-coat, top coat or any special treatment required. I really wanted to come up with some useful life hacks / nail hacks / beauty hacks using a DIY slime recipe as the basis. I was originally hoping to wipe off the nail polish along with the gel, but I realised that after leaving it to work for 10mins, the gel simply softens the polish to the point where you can just peel it off. Which is actually a lot more fun :D!! Obviously, this nail art hack doesn't work with UV gel or acrylic nails. Only use it on bottled polish, don't leave it for over 15mins. If you have sensitive skin, it's best to keep a close eye on it and remove it if you feel it's irritating your nails/cuticles (I didn't have any problems with it myself). The basic slime is the "DIY foam slime" recipe that I've linked below. You simply need to make one batch and then add some white DIY slime on top as frosting. Did you know that sodium borate (borax) is actually a common ingredient used to "buffer" the pH of soap or cosmetics so they doesn't burn your eyes. So that also explains why DIY slime recipes also work with certain face soaps or shampoos since those also contain borate to neutralise the stinging effect. This is why you can use eye drops, contact lens solution or nose drops instead of borax solution for DIY slime recipes. Since I'm not much of a beauty expert, I'm going to offer you my version of it...#SLIMEMOUNTAIN!! Luckily this did not take as long as a typical #POLISHMOUNTAIN but it was more painful on the hands. Squeezing out 140 tubes of glue is not the funnest way to spend 2 hours :P. I used my crystal slime recipe with contact lens solution which really works so well. The trick for making DIY slime without borax is baking soda which creates alkaline pH conditions in the glue. This "activates" the borate inside eye drops or contact lens solution which causes the PVA to clump together, thus creating slime. I've been fascinated by beautiful videos of DIY thai slime / DIY indonesian slime on Instagram and I've been trying to remake those since the beginning of this year. I think I've finally cracked it and this fluffy version is the first slime DIY in this series :D. I have a new DIY crystal slime coming soon and it's also made without borax. After doing some research, I realised that borate is actually a very common ingredient used to "buffer" the pH of soap or cosmetics so it doesn't burn your eyes. I loved this because it actually comes with enough supplies to get creative with your slime ideas. Most DIY slime kits only contain enough to make one slime and look too simple or childish. This slime kit really feels "adult" and it also requires you to do some experimenting to create your own perfect slime recipe. With a bit of effort, you can create some amazing crystal clear slimes that look like those sold in shops. I find the slime recipe quite intriguing which requires pouring borax into diluted PVA. This reduces bubbles and creates a jelly-like texture. However you need to get your quantities very correct otherwise it may end up ruining the whole batch (my first DIY slime was over-activated and the second slime under-activated T_T). The borax supplied in this kit is also different to Mule Team Borax. I was fascinated by the "Slime Softener" liquid and many of you were equally curious. There were lots of requests for DIY slime de-activator, along with tons of great theories on what it could be. Acid, glycerine and baby oil were the most popular ones. I decided to test out 5 different ideas and was really amazed by the results. Glycerine (also called glycerol) turned out to be the unexpected winner. I was really surprised since I can't figure out the chemical process by which it could have such an effect on slime. Glycerine is fairly non-reactive, colourless, odourless and tasteless liquid. It's basically a "thicker" version of water and used to add or retain moisture in many things. I've used glycerine before to make DIY lip gloss, and it's also found in many cosmetics & body products (e.g lotion, which also works as a slime softener!) The acid slime de-activators made more sense since the process of making slime is very pH sensitive. Slime is a chemical reaction between borate and PVA under alkaline pH conditions. This is why baking soda is needed in many recipes to create the alkaline pH. Powdered borax, soap or shaving cream already have an alkaline pH so these contribute to the reaction. ♥ Check out Anita Stories here! In this case, everyone knows that clear slime needs several days to turn transparent. This can be made slightly easier by using water to create a thinner slime (=less resistance for the rising bubbles), however there's nothing else to help speed it up beyond that. However apparently there IS a way to make even quicker clear slime by using sparkling mineral water. Btw, this is different to existing "DIY water slimes" that are already on YouTube. In those water slime videos, people specifically test out slime recipes without borax / contact lens solution / slime activator. So I hope this video will make both happy ;)! I came up with some gift ideas using traditional crafting methods but based on popular DIY slimes. My goal was to make a slime that you can touch or keep forever. It was great fun matching up typical DIY craft supplies with their DIY slime counterpart (eg resin = clear slime, clay = fluffy slime, hot glue = poked slime, cornstarch = balloon slime etc!) Most of these DIYs can be completed in less than 5 minutes hands-on time (EXCLUDES drying time). They are also surprisingly cheap to make, probably less than real slime and can be sold for a lot more :). These also make great Christmas gifts for slime fans. Make Slime With a KNIFE?!! Super Satisfying ASMR - DIY Cloud Slime WITHOUT Fake Snow!

The final texture is very similar to slushie slime / cloud slime depending on how finely you chop the pieces. The basic idea is to soak melamine foam in water slime until everything has been absorbed. This takes at least 2-3 days. I got too excited and took mine out after 24 hours, and you can see in the video that the slime didn't reach the centre yet. When chopping the foam, it's safer to use a sharp knife than a blunt one since this means you can keep your fingers well away from the blade. If you're too young to use knives then please get an adult to help you! New viral trends keep popping up on Instagram so I kept having to update my list of things to try. I narrowed everything down to 10 experiments, with a good mix of slime, bubbles, kinetic sand, floral foam, soap and jelly. I call them DIYs for lack of a better word but of course these are far simpler. Most just require assembling together certain items, although some were just as time-consuming to do as any regular DIY! Viral satisfying clips from Instagram usually capture a few seconds of something seemingly effortless, however I discovered that there far more work involved than expected. For instance, floral foam crushing is great fun for a few seconds but the clean-up can take over 30mins. It also took me a good 15mins to make 3 decent bubbles using Bloonies (they kept popping or deflating). Don't even get me started on soap carving where I narrowly avoided taking a piece out of my finger. You normally need more than one attempt to get the most satisfying shot with perfect ASMR, so this can easily add up to 1-2 hours of setting up and cleaning up. I have lots of respect for those satisfaction Instagram accounts. TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS 1) If the mixture turns foamy then you added too much baking soda. This tends to happen with face masks since the mixture also contains soap. 2) If the mixture remains liquid then add a tiny bit (1tsp) of contact lens solution and shake again. Most of the work actually involves clay, and I definitely recommend a light paper clay which won't sink into the slime. I used the one from Banggood.com and I was very impressed by the quality vs cost. It comes in a much larger container than most clays AND you don't have to use it up as quickly. The only downside is that it tends to dry quickly with a smooth "foamy" texture, so it becomes harder to sculpt details after a while. At $69 for 50ml this is a pricey product. The only comparable "luxury" peel-off glitter mask is Too Faced Glow Job mask which sells for $42. So GlamGlow is basically the most expensive PVA-containing raw ingredient that you can possibly find for slime. Just to compare, a 50ml tube of glue probably costs $3, 50ml of cheap face masks cost $6 and you can get an entire bag of pure PVA powder for $10 :P!! I was fairly certain this slime would turn out well since peel-off masks always work and the mixture is already holo and sparkly. But to make it more interesting. I decided to try replicating the texture using cheap masks. I was genuinely shocked at how similar both of these turned out to be. I expected the DIY version to be slightly more opaque and less sparkly but both seem to be identical. Mix well. 3) Add 3 small pinches of baking soda. Mix well. 4) Add a small amount of contact lens solution. Stir until mixture thickens. 5) If needed, add more baking soda or contact lens solution until slime is no longer sticky to touch. 6) Be careful not to overactivate! This can happen fairly quickly with face mask slimes. 7) It's normal for slime to turn rubbery when you play with it. I obviously decided to stay away from real pods and instead tried to replicate it using different types of slimes. The base pod was a very thick butter slime that basically has a clay-like consistency so it can hold the clear slime in place. I decided against using pure Daiso clay for the base since that dries fairly quickly and the slime won't be "squishable" at all. Contrary to many news reports, NO-ONE has died as a result of the Tide Pod Challenge. The number of deaths reported by the media are dated back to 2012 over a span of 6 years, and none were related to the meme that started in 2018. However NEEDLESS TO SAY, it's an extremely bad idea to eat detergent pods so don't do it guys. The original one was created by the account @fantasy.slimes and I tried my best to recreate the recipe. My method uses two different slimes, a regular fluffy slime for the base and an ultra fluffy one for the dome. This isn't 100% foolproof since the success of the recipe depends strongly on the amount of slime activator and the brand of shaving cream. Since each person's slime activator is different, you may need to play around a bit in order to find a recipe that works with the exact ingredients you use. The ideal top of a souffle slime should be dry, crunchy and shaped like a smooth dome. I realised that this is created in a very similar way to real souffles! Fluffy slime contains a lot of air bubbles and some of these automatically rise to the top while the slime is settling. By creating a small iceberg slime, the topmost layer dries out so the bubbles can't escape. They push upwards against the dried slime and this helps enhance the round shape. However if you leave the slime for too long, the bubbles in the remaining slime start to dissolve, creating larger pockets of air. This enables trapped air to move back down again, thus causing the souffle top to "sink". If your slime contains enough glue then it should hopefully dry completely into a dome shape. However too much glue will also cause it to flatten into a muffin shape, similar to the two pink slimes I made.
